CT 16 Quartz Contact – the power of bonding

One of the most important element of ETICS system is CT 16 Quartz Contact – fast drying, ready to use priming paint that is applied between reinforced layer and the plaster to ensure:

  • powerful adhesion between ETICS system layers
  • solid base for Double Dry Technology due to low absorbency & vapour permeability
  • perfect final effect of the finishing layer due to high opacity
  • easier application of plasters

Thanks to its rough structure CT 16 Quartz Contact bridges the reinforced layer with the plaster, strengthening the whole system. CT 16 Quartz Contact has been specially designed to connect relatively rigid reinforced layer with much more elastic, polymer-based plaster and enhance technologies of this two layers at the same time. CT 16 Quartz Contact cooperates with cement technology of the reinforced layer (Fibre Force) and supports polymer technology of the plaster (Double Dry) to boost their benefits even more.

How CT 16 works


Polymer of CT 16 is compatible with the polymer used in plasters with Double Dry technology. This creates strong connection between priming paint and the plaster. They can work together to reduce absorbency of the plaster and allow vapour to migrate outside the system’s layers. Additionally, the absorbance of the reinforced layer is lowered down – it prevents stains formation on the plaster even more and ensures perfect look of the facade.



From one side small fillers fill in micro holes in reinforced layer, from the other side bigger grains are the elements where layer of priming paint and reinforced layer interpenetrate each other. Polymer penetrates thin layer of base coat what makes its stronger and more elastic. The combination of polymer and fillers (soft marbles and very hard quartz) gives the layer an extra mechanical durability.

Solid base for Double Dry Technology: low absorbancy & vapour permeability

The reinforced layer’s surfaces is not protected enough and water droplets lose their shape and can easily soak into the layer. 

Water droplets do not penetrate the reinforced layer’s structure so much, but keep the round shape and run down the facade.

Without support of CT 16, reinforced layer absorbs and accumulates more water.
Droplets cannot migrate outside easily. 

The reinforced layer’s surface is well-protected against water uptake; it does not get wet easily. In case of accumulation of small amounts of water, drops evaporate quickly.

Perfect final effect of the finishing layer: high opacity & easy application

Due to fast setting of the plaster, final layer can have imperfections like: shifted grains, uneven texture, too dense or loose structure. On the top of that, the colour is not bright, but pale.

CT 16 prolongs the time for plaster application, thus the final layer can be carefully and evenly applied. There is no grains shifting and losses of material. On the top of that, final colour is even what elevates appearance of the facade even more.

More advantages of CT 16 Quartz Contact:

Can be used both outdoor and indoor. Can be applied on the surfaces of chipboards, gypsum cardboards, gypsum plasters, all types of concrete and strong paint coats. Internally – perfect under decorative, mosaic and design plaster; on gypsum substrate; on paneling painted with oil-colour paint.

Especially recommended for highly vapour permeable systems (Self Clean, Aero Wool) and plasters V1 class as allows vapour to migrate outside the system’s layers.

Possibility of suspension insulation work for winter. CT 16 Quartz Contact protects reinforced layer – it can be left for months without plastering. After break no additional treatments of reinforced layer surface is needed.
